What is electronic Giving?
Electronic giving is a payment program whereby your contribution is charged to your credit card or debited automatically from your checking or savings account.
What are the advantages of electronic giving?
- It's easier to fulfill stewardship commitments, even when you can't attend services. You never have to bring cash or checks to the church.
- It makes it possible for members and visitors to set up tithes, gifts and other donations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Members can make recurring gifts from their credit card, checking or savings account to multiple purposes.
- Visitors can make one-time gifts with minimal signup.
- Registered users can view giving history online and even print contribution statements.
- It saves time and money by reducing the work load of the church volunteers who count the offering each week, and the staff who maintain contribution information. Errors are reduced, and contributions are more secure because a check doesn't have to pass through many hands before being deposited into the bank.
How are my contributions automatically deducted from my account?
It's very easy. Simply visit the Shelby WebView website
by clicking here. You will be prompted to "Register" and once registered you will be able to select your payment preference(s).
When will my contribution be deducted from my account or charged to my credit card?
Your contribution will be deducted or charged on the date you specify during the payment processing set-up. You can set up a one-time only payment or a repeating payment. You determine when and how often you want to make your contribution. If you change your mind at a later date, you can go back into the system and make the changes. You can even cancel, if you'd like.
If I select the "bank draft" option and do not write checks, how do I keep my checkbook balance straight?
Since your contribution is made at a pre-established time, you simply record it in your check register on the appropriate date. Electronic contributions are recorded for you on your bank statement.
Without a canceled check, how can I prove I made my contribution?
Your bank statement gives you an itemized list of electronic transactions. It is your proof of contributing, along with the annual contribution statement that you will get from the church. Our new e-Giving feature will also allow you to access and print your contribution statement whenever you'd like.
What if I need to change my bank account or credit card number?
Sign into your account via the "e-Giving" tab on our website and change your account information.
What is Shelby WebView?
Shelby is a well-recognized provider of Church financial and record-keeping software that NNUMC subscribes to. WebView is part of their online e-Solutions service.
Is electronic giving risky?
The church website itself is PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliant, site certification completed quarterly by SecurityMetrics. Along with that, your electronic giving is safely hosted and stored through Payment Data Systems. Their secured servers:
- follow HTTPS secure access protocol
- are PCI compliant
- are SSL encrypted
You can learn more about PCI compliancy standards by visiting
www.pcisecuritystandards.org.
What if I sign up for electronic giving and don't like it?
You can cancel your payments at anytime by logging onto your e-Giving account. But, once you've enjoyed the convenience, time and money savings of electronic giving, we doubt you will want to go back to making contributions the way you did before.
